Rational choice of pharmacotherapy in case of seasonal allergic rhinitis
Abstract. Allergic rhinitis is one of the most common diseases. Seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR), or pollinosis, is caused by sensitization to pollen of wind-pollinated plants. In this variant of allergic rhinitis, the main symptoms (nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, sneezing and itching in the nose) appear during the flowering period of causative plants and can significantly worsen the quality of life of patients. The first line of therapy for SAR is second-generation H1-antihistamines, which effectively block all the effects of histamine realized through H1-receptors and relieve the symptoms of the disease. The article describes our own clinical observation of successful control of SAR symptoms using non-sedating H1-antihistamine drug ebastine, which has anti-inflammatory action in addition to evident antihistamine activity.Bolieva L.Z., Gappoeva E.T.
