Autoimmune comorbidity: Celiac disease and type 1 diabetes mellitus
Abstract. Patients with endocrine autoimmune pathology belong to the risk group for developing celiac disease, which dictates the need for their thorough examination for timely diagnosis of this disease, prevention its complications, and treatment prescription. Current article provides an illustration of a clinical case of combination of type 1 diabetes mellitus and newly diagnosed celiac disease. It shows the mutual influence of these two diseases and emphasizes the need for an individualized approach to the diagnosis and treatment of celiac disease, which is important for both therapists and specialists working in the field of endocrinology and gastroenterology.Bykova S.V., Sabelnikova E.A., Khomeriki S.G., Biryukova E.V., Zakharova A.V.
